Fishless dish

Oh I remember the days eating this classical combination when I was younger. Fish sticks with broccoli and fried or steamed potatoes. And with the increasing demand for meat substitutes, a good fishless fish burger was just a matter of time. What’s your favourite brand? Combine with a spicy fishless sauce, and your dinner is ready. Good meals don’t include many ingredients. Good meals include good ingredients. Enjoy your meal 😋.

Ingredients:
– 1 kilo baby potatoes
– 2 big broccoli’s
– 800 grams mushrooms
– 3 red onions
– 4 garlic cloves
– pinch of salt & pepper
– pinch of cayenne
– oil, for frying
– 4 store bought fishless burgers
– 12 tablespoons fishless sauce (recipe here)
– 1 tablespoon butter

extra needed: scale, spoons, knives, cutting board, frying pans, pans
serves: 4 persons

Instructions:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
Clean the mushrooms with a piece of paper towel if desired.
Cut the mushrooms into thin slices and fry in a pre heated frying pan with one tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat.
After 5 minutes, add the baby potatoes with 1-2 tablespoons of water instead of extra oil.
Reduce heat to medium-low and stir regularly while following this recipe.
Chop the broccoli. Remove leaves, cut the florets free and cut the stalk. Don’t use the inedible bottom part (5 cm / 2 inches).
Take a steam basket, add the broccoli and steam above boiling water for about 10 minutes.
Peel onions and garlic cloves. Mince and add together with the salt, pepper, cayenne and another tablespoon of oil to the mushroom mixture.
Fry for another 10-15 minutes until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy.
Preheat another frying pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon butter.
Add the burgers and reduce heat to medium-low. Bake both sides golden brown (+/- 10 minutes).
Heat up the fishless sauce in a sauce pan or microwave.
Remove the broccoli from the heat and set aside.
Check your mushroom mixture once again and set aside when the potatoes are golden brown and mushrooms are crispy.
Take plates, add the broccoli and the potatoes mix.
Remove the fish burgers from the heat, place on the plate and sprinkle with fish sauce.
